Although the Isle of Wight is fairly small, it offers a surprising number of seasonal festivals, with many of the best events taking place during the summer months, including a major yacht race and sailing regatta.
Popular festivals in Isle of Wight include the following events.
Annual Isle of Wight Festivals
- April: Isle of Wight Jazz Festival, increasing in size each year and attracting many notable jazz musicians
- May: Isle of Wight Walking Festival, offering a range of walking events for all ages
- June: Round the Island Yacht Race, one of the biggest and most prominent yacht races around the Isle of Wight
- June: Nokia Isle of Wight Festival, with outdoor concerts and a range of entertainment, taking place in Seaclose Park at Newport
- August: Cowes Week, a truly historic event and world-famous sailing regattas, attracting over 1,000 yachts in all shapes and sizes, lasting eight days
- October: White Air Extreme Sports Festival, featuring a mixture of surfing, windsurfing and kite-surfing, taking place at the end of the month around Sandown Bay
- November: British Cod Championships, famous month-long fishing competition off the Needles area of the Isle of Wight
