Isle of Wight Port Guide and Ferries - Port Guide to Isle of Wight ferries

Public transport is a feasible option for travel between the picturesque towns of the Isle of Wight. For convenience, many visitors prefer to take a car from the English mainland to the island.

There are nearly 400 crossings a day on ferries and hovercraft to and from the mainland. Crossings vary in length depending on which service you take. The crossing from Portsmouth to Ryde is the shortest, with a journey time of 10 minutes. The longest journey is from Southampton to East Cowes, taking about 55 minutes.

There are two private airports on the Isle of Wight, one at Sandown and the other at Bembridge. The nearest commercial airports have fairly limited services and can be found at Southampton and Bournemouth. London airports are a more feasible option for international travellers and are only located about a 2-hour drive from the mainland ports, from where you can reach the island.
